If you do decide to go down the different motherboard path, you may want to get the supplier to test one out with your system first. It's not a matter of robustness as to whether this problem crops up and at the time I was experiencing the issue, swapping to another motherboard would have made little difference. Sorry to hear that slot juggling was not an option. Would I be able to load my OS to a new board, or just get myself into more trouble? I've also thought about swaping mother boards for a bit more robust one.

You may have to do a bit of trial and error card juggling around into different slots (if you have the option) to see if that gets things working. Perhaps you're encountering similar issues with all the devices in this PC? Have you reset the BIOS to load default values and made sure nothing is 'forced' in terms of configuration? If so, I'd get in touch with the PCI graphics card supplier and see what they have to say about it. I've encountered this sort of problem before with using both a network bootable NIC, a fancy graphics card and a RAID card all in the same PC and I found I had to replace the NICs boot footprint with a smaller one by flashing a special (less complex) firmware package onto it in order for it to work as expected. If you set up a PC to have many devices using that boot memory, sometimes there just isn't enough left and as a consequence some things may not function as expected.

There is only a limited memory space that can be filled with devices that use memory at boot time.

(My goal is to set up three monitors, two from the primary video card in the PCIexpress 2.0x16 slot, and one from another card.)The Sparkle card cannot start either: Device Manager says I have a code 10 on the PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge. I gave up trying to make the video card in the PCI 1x slot work and tried another card (Sparkle PCI 8400GS) in a standard PCI slot.

Well, I thought I had overcome the problem with reloading the Intel board drivers, but I guess I only shifted it. At this point, I am unsure where to look for a solution. I am very happy with the overall performance of this board, but still have this persistant problem.

When I try to update the driver in Device Manager, it says I have an up to date driver installed. Troubleshooting to configure a device says "PCI to PCI bridge is missing a driver".
